I love being reminded to “eat garlic’. I do eat it, I do, but not daily, and I should. My husband eats a clove every morning to help maintain a normal blood pressure (well, as normal as normal is), but I cannot stomach a garlic clove upon rising.

I crush garlic into my salad dressings, chop garlic into salads or stir-fries or make garlic bread, but each time I read about the miracles of garlic I resolve to eat a raw clove at least once daily!

At the first sign of a sore throat, placing fresh garlic under the tongue and allowing it to dissolve slowly (or chew slightly) can alleviate the symptoms.

Garlic is supposed to allow the blood and nutrients to flow more freely, as it increases the levels of nitric oxide lining the blood walls, relaxing them to permit an easy flow.

Garlic helps prevent atherosclerosis (plaque build up).

This magic bulb also helps to reduce high blood pressure, triglyceride and cholesterol levels.

If you can grow your own garlic you will have the freshest, juiciest and the most nutritious of nature’s gifts. When purchasing, always choose local and as fresh as possible.

The most important thing is to remember to eat and enjoy garlic, knowing that with each morsel we are on our way to better health. Like anything, too much may not be good either…so ‘in moderation’ is always a good rule.

In Gene stone's book, 'The Secrets of People Who Never Get Sick', he has a most interesting chapter expounding the virtues of garlic. See another blog on garlic!

If you have any garlic stories, please share!
