What Sun Protection Factor?
The lucky snowbirds escaped to the south to absorb the sun’s nourishing rays. With caution, of course. However, for those of us who remained true to the north and yet are desperate for the sun’s therapy, we don’t have long to wait.
Remember the first spring day when you close your eyes and gaze toward the golden sky, you are absorbing that needed Vitamin D our starving bodies relish.
Hopefully, while the northern sun has been hiberating, so to speak, you have been taking your Vitamin D supplements (up to 4,000 IV’s daily is often recommended) But a true 15 minutes of nature’s sunshine about three times a week will also grant the body’s vitamin D requirement.
After that, woe!! We do not want to burn!
So choose your sunscreens carefully. I found a great website explaining sunblock and SPF , understanding ultraviolet rays, zinc oxide and natural SPF substances (from shea butter to camellia oil) and why we cannot quote SPF on our labels.

Many of our customers do not want a lot of chemical sunscreens in their cosmetic products. We have been asked for a cream containing the block zinc oxide, and it will be available soon. It will be a wonderful moisturizing cream for both summer and winter. Please do read the information on zinc oxide at the website quoted above. And make smart choices in the sunshine!
