Nutrition pour la peau

Masks can pull double duty. The other day I was able to hide my horror upon seeing this wee poodle dressed up in a tutu, sailing around in a bike basket through a mall parking lot. Pink nails to boot. TuTu, fortunately maskless seemed to be enjoying her front-line perch  and the admiring stares of passersby. Her puff ball tail was hidden, but most likely wagging, as she proudly displayed a four-paw set of freshly polished hot pink nails.  That was my horror. Poodles can elicit the oohs and ahhs on their own merits, but it is one breed that humans tend to like to doll up. I grimaced under my…
If you are young and wild and ill-informed and you see a U tube video on how to get high on mouthwash, you may just decide to indulge. Not the smartest of moves. But there you go. People err. Or, maybe you are hanging out at the park and one of the guys starts sharing a bottle of the original Listerine, via the cap that’s doubling as a shot glass. It’s cheap. Smells great and gets you high.   Swish and Spit is the proper way. Don’t drink your mouthwash.  It may be toxic. It can be deadly. If you are a USA citizen, there is an Overdose Mouthwash hotline, a 1-877 number that you can call if…
Chafing is challenging. When skin rubs against skin, or clothing, especially in summer when we have so little control over humidity and heat, the sweat ducks get blocked and those little red bumps, the unmanageable itching, the swelling, and the irritations surface. Ouch! Inner thighs, groin, under the breasts, fingers, toes, armpits, buttocks… sometimes in embarrassing areas that we prefer to not really talk about. That’s the chafe. Recently Tammy C. from Smithville, ON wrote “My husband works in chicken barns and it's very hot, as a result, he often gets heat rash on his inner thighs. I'm…
We are RV camping Near Karabeka Falls, not far from Thunder Bay. It is a summertime high, crowded with happy campers and hordes of happy mosquitoes. Our neighbours seem to be enjoying their camping experience. Since our campsites are almost kissing, we cannot help but see and hear each other. Our neighbours: Father, reigning at the picnic table, Pabst in one hand, Deet in the other.  Mother, lining the 2 younger children up in front of Dad for their evening cloak of repellant spray. A common safeguard choice against the marauding mosquitoes. While also clamping a bracelet on each small arm,…
If I was forced to choose only one product in my skin care arsenal for the rest of my life, it would be emu oil.  First world countries are spoiled. We have too many cosmetics choices. Some amazingly good. Others not so. Emu oil is one of the good ones.   Our main interest in emu oil is its skin nutrition. If plowing through medical journals is not your idea of a good read, you might prefer a précised synopsis of the article I found on red, itchy, scaly skin. Seborrheic dermatitis (aka as eczema and psoriasis).  The Clinical Trial Comparing the efficacy of Emu oil with clotrimazole and…
Goats do like to climb. In Morocco, they master the Argan tree. These southwestern Moroccan athletes savor the bark, leaves and especially the tree fruit, when available. In this desert land where the argan tree grows, the grazing goats have always enjoyed a treasure trove. The argan trees can live over 150 years and are vital to this desert environment, the roots of the tree actively seeking water, helping to prevent soil erosion and resist the advancing desert.  Over 50 years now, the Argan tree has been endangered Too many domesticated goats have moved into the argan tree forested areas,…
Every day we feed our skin. Creams, lotions, shampoos, soaps, body washes, gels, makeup. Most people follow the trends, shop at the cosmetic counters and pharmacies. Many and perhaps most purchases, I would classify as ‘fast skin care’. Like fast food, lacking in quality and nutrition, but hard to resist.  Products full of hidden toxins that smell and feel good.   Then there is the fairly new term ‘slow food’. Derived in 1989, the ‘slow food movement’ is one that provides ‘good food prepared and cooked carefully’.  If we corelate the two terms, Slow Food and Slow Skin Care, feeding the body ‘…
Where does our Shea Butter come from? We can show you! We at Earth to Body are fortunate enough to have friends of the family who work with the Fédération NUNUNA. Our friends have personally met these hard working women of Burkina Faso, where this miraculous gift comes from. We asked them to take some photos and write a description of this organically grown and fair -trade product. We hope this allows you to feel a closer connection to the Shea Butter we use and to the hard-working women who yield it. “Our shea butter is imported from the Fédération NUNUNA, a Union shea butter producer groups…
