Setting: Edmonton Butterdome Spring Craft Show: Earth to Body Natural Skin Care Booth
Two young boys bounded into our booth, ‘Giggle’ puppets wrapped around their small bodies. Mouths flapping. Puppet arms flinging every which way as each boy sought to master his newly purchased toy. The older boy I recognized from the previous day. He and his mom had purchased a small emu oil for his arm. We learned that he was a hemophiliac* and often had to undergo intravenous injections, inside elbow. Unfortunately, he had reacted to the adhesive tape. They were seeking a…
Even before I had my son, Sidney, I knew how well our baby package worked. My customers and especially my friends with kids gave me such fantastic and encouraging feedback. It’s a no brainier. Now that my son is 7 months old and has ever only been exposed to Earth to Body products, I have my own feedback to share.
The baby neem salve, being anti-fungal and anti-bacterial, is something I don't leave the house without. Any bum rash ‘not severe’ to ‘extremely severe’ will be solved with this salve in one use. Amazing results. Sidney, in his first few weeks of being born,…
When my parents started Earth to Body I was a little hesitant to use some of their new creations.
I was in my early 20's and I was used to the products I had seen on TV for the last 20 years. I came home from school one day and my dad handed me a sheet of paper. On it was a list of chemicals that he said was in all of my hair and skin products ( if they even bothered to list them, which I learned later most didn't).
I read 'propylene glycol'. "What is that?" I wondered. "Sodium laurel sulfate? Isn't that in everything? How can that be bad? "
Well, let me tell you, not only are…
I could say the best thing about working for Earth to Body is the family atmosphere, wonderful staff, flexible hours and constant accolades for my work. But not today. Today, I am feeling materialistic and slightly vain and oh so grateful for their decadent products. Nothing beats Earth to Body.
The smooth silky texture, the perfectly mild scents, the luscious feel on my skin, my hair, my lips, my feet. I am in love with all of it, but today I will focus on my favs and give you a run through of my daily routine. Here is what I could NOT live without.
On my lips: Emu Lip Balm all day…
You meander by our shop. You see an unfamiliar ‘Earth to Body’ sign. You do not know us. You are daydreaming, but something draws you inside. Immediately, you see the fridge display and commence looking around for sandwiches, smoothie drinks, fresh fruit. Instead, you see small cream jars, slim sprtizer tubes, generic brown dropper bottles found usually in a pharmacy or the vitamin section of a health food store. Somewhat confused, you continue your perusal. It smells good, but more like a fresh garden scent than a bakery or food service.
The…
Bienvenue. It is that welcoming time of year when the spring sunshine dances shadows on the melting snow and sneaks its warmth into our still winter cool rooms. Welcome to ‘La Boutique Earth to Body’. Come sit. Enjoy a respite for a few minutes. Perhaps you recently read an article about the dangers of commercial soaps and shampoos and you are now considering switching over to something more natural. You have a few questions. We have the time.
Spring, we all know is the season to fling open the windows and breathe the fresh air. Shake the rugs, wash…
Natural products are not the same as their chemical counterparts. The unpredictability of nature requires understanding and patience. We have not been conditioned to appreciate patterns, fluctuations and cycles of life, therefore we find ourselves slightly off kilter as we strive to reconnect to our natural world. Oils harden in the cold. Cream may separate in the heat. Butters granulate. The shelf life is about four seasons.
Our conditioning has embedded a notion of perfectionism as we navigate, especially in our expectations. We want quick results. We want them now and we want them perfect…
If you have ever worked a craft show, (similar to trade shows) you know the sounds of set up. Dollies rolling across bare cement floors, skids being unwrapped, clangs of curtain rods echoing overhead, harried vendors intent on transforming their allotted space into a unique shop zone.
It was a set up day in Winnipeg. We had claimed our temporary home, unloaded the skids, spilling bins sporting identification labels: Office. Signs. Electrical. We laid the carpets, hung the curtains, snaked electrical wires into position. We reassembled…
