This is not the first time we have extolled our shea butter, proudly purchased from a co-op in Burkina Faso, ‘women’s gold fair trade butter'.  Summer is the perfect time to remind you not to forget about shea.  Winter cold and summer sun demand protection. “Your butters are the best shea I have ever tried”, exclaimed one eager customer.  I took it on vacation to the Dominican and my entire family begged me to share it.   A day in the sun, a shower and a body buttering is the perfect day!” It is also a good idea to apply the sheamu butter before heading outdoors.…
It was several years ago when I wrote a series of imaginary 'letters' titled, 'Dear Cosmetic World’   I was concerned about the absence of full ingredient listings on too many websites.  Here is an excerpt of that lament. “I peruse your website and see: ‘Natural Ingredients,  ‘Active Ingredients,  ‘Main Ingredients,  ‘Active Naturals'. In these listings, I read delicious gifts from nature: honey, rose, peach, lime, almonds...Sounds good.  Yet sometimes, no matter how hard I search, I CANNOT FIND a complete listing.  Nowhere on the website. Please…
A while back I wrote this article and thought it time to republish it for those of you who are new to us. 'O Woe to Acne!' “Nothing seems to work. I have been to three dermatologists, tried various creams and salves. Sometimes my acne clears up, but it always comes back. Once my face reacted so badly I missed two days of school! My dermatologist is recommending Pro-Active but I have heard it can be dangerous. I am so discouraged.” Such was the conversation with a young lady this weekend in Sudbury. And very typical of many dilemmas people face with acne or related skin conditions. Our Skin…
Setting: Edmonton Butterdome Spring Craft Show: Earth to Body Natural Skin Care Booth Two young boys bounded into our booth, ‘Giggle’ puppets wrapped around their small bodies. Mouths flapping.  Puppet arms flinging every which way as each boy sought to master his newly purchased toy.  The older boy I recognized from the previous day.  He and his mom had purchased a small emu oil for his arm.  We learned that he was a hemophiliac* and often had to undergo intravenous injections, inside elbow.  Unfortunately, he had reacted to the adhesive tape. They were seeking a…
Even before I had my son, Sidney, I knew how well our baby package worked. My customers and especially my friends with kids gave me such fantastic and encouraging feedback.  It’s a no brainier. Now that my son is 7 months old and has ever only been exposed to Earth to Body products, I have my own feedback to share.   The baby neem salve, being anti-fungal and anti-bacterial, is something I don't leave the house without. Any bum rash ‘not severe’ to ‘extremely severe’ will be solved with this salve in one use. Amazing results. Sidney, in his first few weeks of being born,…
When my parents started Earth to Body I was a little hesitant to use some of their new creations. I was in my early 20's and I was used to the products I had seen on TV for the last 20 years. I came home from school one day and my dad handed me a sheet of paper. On it was a list of chemicals that he said was in all of my hair and skin products ( if they even bothered to list them, which I learned later most didn't). I read 'propylene glycol'. "What is that?" I wondered.  "Sodium laurel sulfate? Isn't that in everything? How can that be bad? " Well, let me tell you, not only are…
I could say the best thing about working for Earth to Body is the family atmosphere, wonderful staff, flexible hours and constant accolades for my work. But not today. Today, I am feeling materialistic and slightly vain and oh so grateful for their decadent products. Nothing beats Earth to Body. The smooth silky texture, the perfectly mild scents, the luscious feel on my skin, my hair, my lips, my feet. I am in love with all of it, but today I will focus on my favs and give you a run through of my daily routine. Here is what I could NOT live without.   On my lips: Emu Lip Balm all day…
You meander by our shop.  You see an unfamiliar ‘Earth to Body’ sign.  You do not know us. You are daydreaming, but something draws you inside.  Immediately, you see the fridge display and commence looking around for sandwiches, smoothie drinks, fresh fruit.  Instead, you see small cream jars, slim sprtizer tubes, generic brown dropper bottles found usually in a pharmacy or the vitamin section of a health food store.  Somewhat confused, you continue your perusal.   It smells good, but more like a fresh garden scent than a bakery or food service. The…
